In January 2009, Valerie Parr Hill,
QVC's own Home Decor and Hospitality Expert,
taped her "Heartfelt Home with Valerie" Spring 2009 Accents Collection
at the 1800 Tory Inne.
It was a great honour to host Valerie, Liz and her production staff and
a memory that I will always cherish.
The Brandywine Country Fall 2008 / Winter 2009 Magazine,
the Official Guide to Delaware County and the Brandywine Valley,
featured the 1800 Tory Inne in their article entitled
"A Home Away From Home."
A must see for anyone planning a visit to the Brandywine Valley!
The 2007 Annual "Inns & B&B's of Central Pennsylvania"
publication
featured the 1800 Tory Inne
B&B on the cover.

"Location, location, location,"
was certainly the mantra that led innekeeper Linda
Waterhouse-Koski
to purchase the property on North Chester Road
in West Chester's Goshenville Historic District.
But it wasn't property value that enticed her to leave her
home
in the Georgetown section of Washington, D.C.
It was nearly 14,000 British and Hessian soldiers.
When the former Goshenville General Store and Post Office
became available for purchase,
Linda jumped at the chance to buy it.
A history buff, she knew that Chester County played an
important role
in the American fight for Independence
or the American rebellion, depending upon which side you were
on.
The property is located right on the road that the British
and Hessian soldiers
used on their march from the Battle of Brandywine (September
11, 1777)
to their occupation of Philadelphia.
Listed on the Register of Historic Places,
the Inne was originally built in 1800 by Jesse Reese.
In 1806, the property was sold to Jonathan Fields, who opened
the Goshenville General Store.
In 1828, a post office was added and remained open until
1904.
The general store served the Quaker community for 117 years
before closing its doors in 1923.
In opening her Inne,
Waterhouse-Koski sought to shed light on the other side of
the war
by exposing the plight of the many Tories that lived in
Goshenville during the Revolution.
After six years of extensive restoration,
the 1800 Tory Inne opened
to the public in May 2004.
Today, the 1800 Tory Inne
is an upscale, luxurious and authentic
English Bed & Breakfast Inne
complete with all the amenities to make your stay enjoyable
and relaxing.

It has been my pleasure to welcome to the Inne the Cast and Crew
of the
"soon to be released" Daytime Drama "As the Mill Churns."
Filmed entirely in the Philadelphia area including the 1800 Tory Inne,
this dynamic new show will be marketed nationally, internationally, and
even available for viewing on the internet.
Watch for It.

I was contacted by the Press Agent for the
3rd Baron Cornwallis of Linton,
who has published a new book, an account of the remarkable history of his
family
from the year 1226 to the present day.
Needless to say, I have purchased this very important work for the Inne's
Library and it will be available for viewing by guests of the Inne.
Copies can be ordered by writing to Lord Cornwallis,
Old Parsonage Cottage, Goudhurst TN171AN
or from Quacks the Printers, Jackson House, 7 Grape Lane,
Petergate, York Y017HU.
The price is 40 pounds sterling for hardback and 25 pounds sterling for soft
back.
In addition, I have extended an invitation to Lord and Lady Cornwallis
to visit the 1800 Tory Inne
should they have the opportunity to visit the Brandywine Valley in the
future.
While relaxing in the keeping room, take a moment to read the
letter
I received from the 3rd Baron Cornwallis of Linton.

Perfect Blend of History &
Elegance
My husband and I have traveled
all over the world,
to many small inns and large
resorts. The Tory Inne was one of the best!
Linda has created a warm,
welcoming and historic atmosphere
unmatched by many locations.
She has blended British charm
with Williamsburg elegance.
The rooms are nicely appointed
and are very comfortable.
Breakfast is fantastic and the
location is ideal for exploring.
We were in easy reach of Valley
Forge, King of Prussia, Brandywine attractions and Philadelphia.
Cannot wait to return!

One of the most beautiful inns my
wife and I have ever stayed in.
The attention to detail and
authentic English decor is breathtaking.
Linda was a very gracious host
and sent us information on various dining
establishments in the area and
sent us links to those restaurants.
She was more than happy to make
the reservations for us.
Our room was lovely with a large
bathroom and sitting room
adjoining the main bedroom.
Breakfast was an experience.
Before the main meal there was an
assortment of scones, popovers,
assorted breads, homemade cereal
with fruit and nuts.
Clotted cream, lemon curd and
other preserves were provided.
Our traditional English breakfast
consisted of an omelet,
with tomatoes and mushrooms on
the side.
Breakfast was served by
candlelight.
Linda takes pride in using as
many organic and local ingredients as possible.
The inn was immaculate and Linda
took pride in showing us around and
explaining all the renovation
work and architectural details of the house.
The results of the renovation
speak for itself.
She is a font of knowledge when
it comes to the Revolutionary War and
the role the now Goshenville
Historic District played during this period.
Linda can guide you to many of he
area attractions as well
and has printed directions to
them.
Next time you are in the
Brandywine Valley make it a point to stay here.
You won't be disappointed.

Thank you for making our 1st Bed and Breakfast stay such a
fantastic one.

and the outstanding hospitality.

The Inne is an amazing place to
stay.
It is beautifully restored and a
most comfortable accommodation.
Your suggestions for area
restaurants were right on.
We can't remember when a travel
destination provided so many excellent
meals in such historic venues.
I'm already missing your
breakfasts!
Thanks for a terrific few days,
we're sure you will be seeing us again.
John, Caroline, Neal & Myra
"Wow! We had such a great time at your
place.
You are a perfectionist.
Your attention to every detail, from the superb
cooking,
to the cleanliness,
to the Egyptian cotton sheets.
You even furnished us in very short order with a
perfect set of directions to our next destination.
The only problem occurred when we returned to
our own home.
Our floors didn't look quite as clean as we had
remembered,
and our sheets weren't as comfortable as they
seemed before we visited you.
And, I wasn't served a home cooked breakfast the
next morning,
I had to cook it myself."
Lisa & Tom
"The Innekeeper is a
wonderfully warm person who makes the experience
of the Inne great - wonderful
suite and she also cooks a great egg!"
Ingrid "The Inne was everything we were
looking for!
It has been beautifully restored.
We enjoyed all of the "luxurious extras"
such as the Egyptian Cotton bed
linens, the Turkish towels & English bath salts.
The full English Breakfast was
not only beautifully prepared,
but beautifully presented in a
candlelit dining room.
We felt so welcomed and so
comfortable!
Thank you so much!"
Trudi & Reno
"We had the 'loveliest' visit in your
charming B&B.
You are a wonderful hostess and we
appreciate all you have done for us.
My first experience in a B&B was wonderful.
Many thanks."
Carolyn & Gordon
"This was my first bed &
breakfast experience - and I think I'm spoiled!
The food was amazing, the
sheets were divine,
and I ate every one of my
chocolate chip cookies.
Thank you so much for your
hospitality and generosity.
Your Inne is absolutely
amazing & such a needed retreat!"
Katie
